Apple Releases iOS 9.2

Some of the ones that stand out to me are a fix for a bug that would disable alarms when updating iOS, which is something that caused a number of people who rely on their phone alarms to not be woken up when iOS 9.1 was released.

Although iOS 9.2 is the second full update to Apple’s operating system, it is actually the fourth overall update to iOS 9, following the release of iOS 9.0.1, iOS 9.0.2 and iOS 9.1. The undisclosed team has managed to come up with a working, browser-based, untethered jailbreak that can work on both beta versions of the iOS 9.1 and iOS 9.2. However, Apple is also giving everything they have to protect its iOS systems and keep the rest from infiltrating its “exclusivity”. For a start, it’s much easier to reconcile your iCloud Music Library with the streaming service – you can see whether or not any song has been downloaded, and quickly download whole albums or playlists.

This iOS update also brings some Apple Music improvements, including tweaks related to making playlists and saving songs offline. Similar advanced Wi-Fi calling features are also available to T-Mobile and Sprint users. You can use Mail Drop in Mail to send large attachments. iBooks now supports 3D Touch for peeking at and popping up pages from the table of contents, your notes and bookmarks, or from search results inside a book. For example, Safari View Controller can now request a desktop site, and you can swipe from the edge of the screen to dismiss the browser.

As of the moment, Pangu is giving a way to jailbreak iOS 9.1, but the team says it is not the final solution yet that they will offer to users.

Apple has packaged a tonne of improvements and bug fixes in this update, including Apple Music, News, Mail, and iBook enhancements.

The new update is now available to all users with an iPhone 4s or later and can be downloaded over-the-air by going to Settings – General – Software Update.
