Apple revives Twitter account before iPhone7 launch

Apple has several Twitter accounts – Apple Music, Apple News and its App Store – among many others.

Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t sent a tweet yet; well, not a proper one.

So, that’s Apple’s first tweet, right?

Some observers speculated about what Apple’s new account might mean for Twitter.

The “tweet” metadata in the TweetDeck twitter-management system showed that it was a Twitter TWTR, +0.26% advertisement, yet the product performs exactly like a tweet in nearly every other way except showing up on Apple’s AAPL, +0.94% timeline. Earlier the company launched its support account on twitter.

Don’t expect any details of the upcoming iPhone 7 to appear on the account though, instead expect various product announcements and press releases to appear on there following the September 7th event. The phone is reportedly going to offer minimal upgrades over last year’s model, with rumoured changes including the removal of the headphone jack, a new “Space Black” colour option, and less prominent antenna banding. There’s also said to be one iPhone 7 configuration that will feature a dual-lens camera, but this has not yet been confirmed by Apple. Where we saw 128GB on both iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, we might get to see 256GB on both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, showing that Apple is upgrading to huge storage margins.
