Apple hasn’t yet suspended OTA downloads for iOS 10, although there’s no doubt that it should do that given the big number of iPhones that are rendered useless because of this bug. “And Friday set a single day sales record for any smartphone ever in T-Mobile US history”. Reports coming in from various reliable sources like Twitter, 9to5Mac and MacRumour forums have confirmed the fact that updating Apple devices through the OTA is causing them to brick. Any iPhone or iPad running iOS 9 or later isn’t going to have much trouble with this one. So, in all likelihood, it has something to do with the software that is being delivered to the devices over the air, rather than the devices themselves. Either is fine, but I recommend keeping a recent update on your computer.
There’s pretty much a golden rule with all iPhone iOS updates – don’t be one of the first people to download it – it’s nearly surely going to have problems.

But $10 to solve a problem that didn’t exist until just now seems like a steal, right?
