Apple’s iOS 10 update is bricking iPhones

Apple launched the anticipated iOS 10 update Tuesday, but it’s already off to a rough start. As iOS has matured, Apple has gradually extended how long it supports the machines in the iPhone family.

The new operating system brings plenty of improvements and new features to Apple’s gadgets including new ways to message, improved Apple Music, better Maps and easier access to your notifications.

What’s clear about today’s update is that Apple is trying to shift how people interact with their mobile devices. The company says users should now be able to safely proceed with installing iOS 10. You’ll want to make sure your battery is either charged to more than 50% or that it’s plugged into a power source, otherwise your phone won’t allow you to initiate the installation process.

Apple apologised for the problem and issued a software update to fix the issue.

Connect the phone to iTunes and force restart the handset by pressing the Sleep and Home buttons. Also, there are now widgets on the lock screen, while Messages now have a new look. Keep holding until you see the recovery mode screen. It’s great for quickly glancing at information though it’s still not as useful as the widgets offered by Android.

The release of iOS 10 comes days before the new iPhone 7 will be available to buyers. This is going to erase everything on your device so you hopefully backed your device up before starting the update process.

However, Apple’s Digital Touch, initially introduced to the Apple Watch, is a lot of fun to play around with. However, it has been seen as a problem for most users. Apple has also added gif libraries, more emojis and the ability to replace words with emojis when texting. You need to also make certain that certain apps and their features are not running in the background since the update, such as Background Refresh, turn off Fitness Tracking, and also make certain that Brightness is set to auto.
