Apple’s iOS 10 update is crashing users’ phones

You may want to wait to download iOS 10, though, at least until the first minor update.

The arrival of Apple’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 10, did not go as smoothly as expected, with some users claiming the update bricked their iPhone and iPad devices. Not to worry though, Apple stated that you can connect your device to iTunes and complete the update.

Apple released the final build of the iOS 10 software update for the eligible iPhones, iPads & iPods yesterday.

Other complaints included the elimination of the swipe-to-unlock feature and replacing the pistol emoji with one of a water gun.

The firm’s Apple Music has also been redesigned as part of the update, having been criticised for being confusing when it launched a year ago.

If you’ve made a decision to try out iOS 10, Apple will issue a notification to say the new version of iOS is available to download. Mixpanel reports that, as of Wednesday, iOS 10 adoption is already at 14.45 percent, easily outpacing Apple’s last couple of releases.

Despite the early troubles, thus far, iOS 10 has been widely praised for its new features, including interactive iMessages and newly designed Music and Photo apps.

Apple’s John Paczkowski made a statement regarding the recurring issue for the devices and should now fix everything.

Scores of iPhone and iPad users reported problems and complained the new update had “bricked” their device.

A prompt in iTunes will ask you to update or restore.

While the iOS issues are, of course, unexpected, it’s always smart to hold off updating new mobile software until Apple works out first iteration kinks.
