Apple’s iPad Pro: Sizing Up the Challenge

Apple’s Tim Cook said, ‘Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. Before deciding if you want to buy the iPad Pro, you may be curious to know what the tablet looks like when it’s disassembled, and how easy it is to fix. They also note that the LCD and front glass panel are fused, making it harder to replace just one component, although admittedly this seems to be the standard practice these days.

Gruber put the iPad Pro through benchmark tests, which are created to test the speed of components in devices. This is happening for two main reasons: Those who have an iPad don’t see a reason to upgrade it every two to three years, as they do their iPhone.

The biggest draw about the iPad Pro is its support for the Apple Pencil, which is essentially Apple’s take on the stylus.

“The iPad Pro is more powerful, cheaper, has a better display, and gets better battery life”.

The 12.9-inch iPad is the largest tablet Apple’s ever made, with a screen larger than a few of its laptops.

Apple Pencil will be available for a recommended retail price of A$165 inc.

Though the device is undoubtedly a powerhouse, Apple’s most powerful tablet commands a very high price.

The iPad Pro starts at $799 for USA customers, with a keyboard option for an additional $169. New iPad Pro Silicone Cases will be available for A$129 inc.

“They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones”, says Cook.

Cost is a wee bit of an issue, though, with the monster slate starting at £679 for a Wi-Fi only 32GB variant.

And as for the overall responsiveness of the interface, the iPad Pro is up there with the Apple laptops, the MacBook or MacBook Air.

Most of the early reviews of the iPad Pro have been positive, but criticism has centered around the iPad Pro’s inability to bridge the gap between laptop and tablet using accessories like a stylus and a keyboard.
