Apple’s New iPhone Makes Hissing Sound Under Load (AAPL)

The sound stems from within the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and not from the speaker system.

Apple recently ditched the traditional 3.5-mm headphone jack in its latest devices in favor of using ones that connect to the Lightning port. They are already calling it hissgate – looks like something that belongs to Harry Potter’s world and not iPhone’s – and there are a number of consumers who have got their phones replaced because they heard the “iPhone making weird noises”. “My iPhone 7 Plus makes bad noises when under load”, Hackett wrote in a Saturday tweet, which links to a YouTube recording highlighting the hiss.

Apple has received several complaints that the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are producing a unusual hissing or buzzing sound.

There’s no denying that the iPhone’s new finish is pretty (and so is the fact that it’s shipping way sooner than expected). Well, if you like the 24K dragon for some reason along with the diamond encrusted Apple logo, then keep $4,000 ready for the 128GB variant of the iPhone 7 and $500 more for the Plus variant. Some users even relate the “hissing” sound to that of a laptop fan. Users should not be concerned about their iPhone 7 getting ruined by the sound.

iPhone users had been dreading the design decision made by Apple’s designers with the iPhone 6 for long, but hey “Apple knows best!”. While Apple will instantly give you store credit to be utilized in your next iPhone purchase, but quite frankly, the value is far too low.

Apple insists these complications processes are carried out on the phone, because it does not want the privacy implications associated with sending the data to the cloud.

Meanwhile, Apple has said some models – such as the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 in jet black – are completely out of stock online. Another report in The Verge confirms that the hissing problem does not seem to be very widespread, or affecting a lot of users. The airplane mode can be toggled on/off but the effect stays for quite some time.
