Apple’s new iPod nano, shuffle won’t work with Apple Music – here’s why
That market might have shrunk a bit thanks to the streaming revolution, but Apple has sought to reclaim lost ground with its new Apple Music service. But many people now use smartphones to listen to music. Much of the hardware design is identical to the 5th-generation iPod Touch it replaces: you’re getting a 4-inch, 1,136-by-640-pixel resolution display (the iPhone 6 sits at 1,334 by 750 pixels), and a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch – that’s identical to the iPhone 6. It has been three years since the device has had any major updates for the iPod Touch, which the company released in 2012.

Naturally, slowing demand for the iPod made Apple stop updating the music player since 2012, but it seems the Cupertino tech giant hasn’t given up yet on the product. There is also an 8 megapixel rear camera and a FaceTime HD front-snapper for “better selfies” and video chat. Apple placing fresh attention on the iPod again shows it’s trying some new tactics to promote Apple Music across the board. 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models are available through the Apple Store and Apple Online Store for $199, $249, $299 and $399 respectively. It was Apple’s first success beyond personal computers and began a company transformation that led to the iPhone in 2007, the iPad in 2010 and the Apple Watch this year.
The 6th-generation iPod touch has identical dimensions to the 5th-gen Touch, and a nearly identical casing. Furthermore Apple has also included an M8 motion coprocessor for fitness tracking, similar to what the company included in its iPhones.
We might wonder what the new iPod will do to the Apple Company (NASDAQ:AAPL), as a whole.
With the cheapest iPhones costing around $500, the ability to pick up an iPod Touch (starting at $200 for a 16 GB model) makes for some interesting possibilities.
Both the iPod Touch and the iPhone 5s feature the 8MP iSight camera, but Hughes notes that there are some differences between the two. The lack of a cellular radio is the biggest thing that makes an iPod touch an iPod touch, and not a slightly watered-down iPhone. The camera in the iPod Touch has a maximum aperture of f/4.2, while that in the iPhone 5s has a maximum aperture of f/2.2.

Before going further into the tutorial part, keep in mind that it’s extremely important to backup your iPod touch via iCloud or iTunes, just in case the jailbreak goes South. This way, you can always recover your data and start anew.
