Some early adopters of iOS 10.0 discovered that their iPhones and iPads were busted by the new version of the operating system, turning their devices into rather expensive paper weights or doorstops.
The Cupertino company also indicated that the issue is now resolved and apologised for bricking your device. According to Apple, those who were affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update instead of iOS 10 installation via OTA.
As always, launch periods for software can be fraught with issues, despite the gajillion beta phases in the months leading up to release.
However, Apple says the glitch has been fixed and has provided its unlucky users with instructions to restore their “bricked” devices.
Though you might be getting a notification asking you to upgrade your device by downloading the 1.9 GB update, it is highly advised that you do the same through iTunes only.
Apple has since released a patch that has been pushed out to users.
Then connect your device to a computer and restart your device by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake buttons and Home button for at least 10 seconds.
On the more practical side of things, you’re able to turn on read receipts on a per conversation basis using the detail pane in the Messages app. The upgrade to iOS 10 is a fairly large download, so it’s best to download it when you’re connected to Wi-Fi.
iOS 10 lets third-parthy app developers integrate Siri with their apps.
As Windows 10 users already enjoy a growing selection of Cortana-enabled apps, it’s definitely nice to see that iOS is catching up.

Users of the iPhone and iPad in the United Kingdom with a compatible device – iPhone 5 and newer, or iPad mini 2 and newer – are eligible for the update.
