Apple’s watchOS 2 releases, bringing native apps and more to Apple Watch

The update clocks in at just over 500 MB for both the 38mm and 42mm Apple Watches, and can be downloaded right now around the globe. Apple was supposed to release the software last Wednesday but was halted due to a critical bug problem in the software.

The Cupertino company today launched watchOS 2, some four days after it was planned to roll-out.

Demand is expected to be high, so there may be a delay.

Once you’ve downloaded the apps of your choice, you need to make sure that app is shown on your Apple Watch.

We highly recommend all Apple Watch users to update to watchOS 2 and reap the benefits that it brings to the table. Of the list of new features the OS has to offer, improved third-party app support for Complications stands out. Simply tap through to Photos, Synced Album, and choose from the albums on your iPhone to automatically get them to your Apple Watch. Apple Watch is also getting tighter calibration for outdoor walks and runs, as well as rowing and outdoor cycling. I’m legitimately excited about the update [LINK], but in order for all us watch users to start seeing the benefits we have to instal it first.

You can now answer emails from your Apple Watch in the same way you’re used to replying to texts – through voice dictation or brief pre-written replies, including “Can I call you later?”, “Got it, thanks” and “Let me take a look…”.

9to5Mac recently posted a walkthrough of the new watchOS 2, giving it high praise. This means apps no longer depend on your iPhone and can operate independently on the watch. The watch also gives the user the ability to use own photos as the watch face.

The other option is to drop into your Photos app on your Apple Watch.

Complications is Apple’s term for the small information icons displayed on your watch face, which originally consisted of activity rings, the time in a foreign country, a short cut to the stopwatch app and so on.

Time Travel, a new software feature being introduced, will let you move ahead on your day to see what’s coming up on your schedule without needing to open up your Calendar app.

The update has added new features to the five month old watch, which includes new faces as well as major cities with time-lapse videos shot over 24 hours in locations like London, Paris and New York.

“The Digital Crown will become your snooze button in the morning and the side button will shut the alarm off”, the same report added.

Some users still prefer to use a third-party app of their choice for various fitness activities.
