Apple’s watchOS 2 software delayed due to bug

Apple was scheduled to release the first major update for its wearable operating system – dubbed watchOS – later today in tandem with iOS 9. “We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly”, an Apple spokesperson told The Verge. Apple also claims that the new software update will pave the way for more “native” apps for the timepiece that does not require you to whip out your handset. The software upgrade will let you run third-party apps right on the Watch without your iPhone, add nightstand mode and new watch faces (including your own photos), and much more.

However, the rollout of iOS 9 will go ahead as planned, according to the Financial Times’ Tim Bradshaw. But on the bright side of things, users can now expect an extremely refined experience when Apple does plan to release its new Apple Watch firmware to the masses. It also reportedly allows users to simultaneously check the time and run or launch different apps and notifications.

What do owners like and dislike in regards to the Apple Watch? The reason watchOS 2 is so important for Apple is because it is the first update to the operating system for the Apple Watch.

Apple has chosen to not release Watch sales figures, leading to speculation that the device isn’t doing well (after all, Apple has never shied away from trumpeting its iPhone sales).

One of the criticisms of the Apple Watch when it was released was that the smartwatch needs to be charged daily.
