Apple sends out invites for iPhone SE’s launch

Apple have sent out invitations for an event on 21 March, which means tech writers of the world will be clearing their diaries, just in case Apple have something big up their sleeves. This is smaller than the company’s iPhone 6 and 6s devices, which have 4.7-inch displays.

Rumours have it that the new iPhone SE would feature a smaller 4-inch screen along with a similar specs sheet, as the iPhone 6s.

SAN FRANCISCO After months of declines in Apple’s (AAPL.O) stock, sentiment appears to be mending as investors focus on steady earnings expectations and bet that the expected launch of a new iPhone will add badly-needed fuel to sputtering sales.

Let the countdown begin. It is also rumored that Apple could cut the recommended retail price for iPhone 5S by a half during the event.

Another Apple leak site, Macrumours, says the smartphone could be called the iPhone Pro (but we all know this is highly unlikely). So with the updates we have till now it looks like Apple is trying to get the best features from their best products in smaller packages and in turn, make them more affordable. It will be available in Space Grey, Gold, Silver, and a possible variant in Rose Gold color.

Fans will still have to take this information with grain of salt, as Apple has not officially announced anything about its newest flagship.

According to sources, the iPhone SE (where SE is speculated to stand for “special edition”) will be similar to the 5s in terms of design, but will sport curved glass visible on the iPhone 6 and 6s variants.

As for the iPad Air 3, it is rumored to be 9.7 inches in size and will have an A9 processor, a Smart Connector to accessories like the Smart Keyboard and probably a support for Apple Pencil. It also might launch an update to iOS 9.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed previous year the iPhone 7, which is unlikely to launch until at least September 2016, will be the firm’s thinnest handset to date at just 6mm thick. Yet, NFC will continue to be offered for Apple Pay – Apple actually wants to use the device to boost adoption of its paying service in the United States, as well as Touch ID for fingerprint authentication.
