The phone will also come in the same silver, “space gray”, gold and rose gold colours that the iPhone 6s comes in.

The rumours surrounding the release of a smaller iPhone first circulated at the end of last week on the popular, and normally well informed Apple site, 9to5 Mac, which claimed the new iPhone would be called the iPhone 5se.

Apple employees described the suffix -se as “special edition” and ‘enhanced, ‘ with its internals updated for modern use. Besides, Apple’s latest phone is likely to be priced relatively cheaper than the company’s high-end flagship models such as iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Apple is said to be readying the launch of the iPhone 5se in March or April this year.

The supposed iPhone 5se, right, next to an iPhone 5. Once Apple reveals the iPhone 5se, it’s said that they will phase out the iPhone 5 from 2013 and will replace iPhone 5 sales with the 5se at a matching price.

The most noticeable addition will be the attractive “Live Photos” feature that can be found on the iPhone 6s.

Now according to a new report coming from 9to5mac, the iPhone 5se will come with faster chips than initially expected, but also with some other goodies that could make it quite a hot sell.

The next 4-inched handset by Apple will run on a powerful A8 SoC and will be accompanied by M8 motion co-processor which was also seen on the previous iPhone 6.

There have been rumors for months that Apple is planning a secret event in March during which the Apple Watch 2 would be released.
