Apple stock is jumping because the iPhone 7 is exceeding expectations

Also on Tuesday, T-Mobile US Inc. and Sprint Corp. each issued news releases suggesting strong consumer interest in the new phones. It probably helps that T-Mobile has been running an aggressive promotion, offering a base iPhone 7 for free when customers trade in an iPhone 6 or newer.

For one, Samsung could block the iPhone-maker from licensing its proprietary jack – much like Apple has done with the Android community and other competitors.

“The first four days of the iPhone 7 launch are by far the biggest ever for T-Mobile”.

Neither Verizon nor AT&T, the two largest wireless carriers in the USA, had released figures for iPhone 7 pre-orders as of this morning. (S) said that pre-orders of both the phones were over 375% higher through the first three days, compared to pre-order numbers a year ago.

“We’re gonna be moving things out as fast as we can”, Legere said in his Periscope live stream.

The iPhone 5, 6, and 7 have all been “excellent” phones, but Mossberg is hesitant to update to the iPhone 7 because the next iPhone could be significantly better and because the iPhone 7 doesn’t have a headphone jack, he told Fortt.

Interestingly, along with a flurry of feature improvements, Apple also rolled out two new finishes – an elegant-looking black model and a glossy jet black.

But back to this year’s iPhone, set for release Friday, September 16. The time frame that Sprint is referring to covers three days, compared to the four-day period that T-Mobile is disclosing.

For that reason, the company said it decided that initial sales figures were “no longer a representative metric for our investors and customers”.

Even before the iPhone 7 was officially announced, rumors have circulated about Apple’s 2017 iPhone plans.

In preparation for the iPhone 7 arrival, T-Mobile and Sprint introduced unlimited data plans.

The early enthusiasm for the iPhone 7 could be good news for Apple, which is in need of a strong sales cycle for its flagship device.
