It looks like more Apple software may be coming to the Android operating system. One thing that could help push things along is the iPad Air 3, which is now expected to be announced in March, featuring iPad Pro level specifications in a smaller form factor. “Cook said that Apple is using Apple Music on Android as a way of testing the waters for growing its services division through other platforms, opening up the door for more porting in the future”. According to Apple, this has been introduced for the users to “keep more music offline”.
As well as calendars and email, Apple could potentially bring its iMessage service to Android, growing its user base in the face of stiff competition from Facebook-owned WhatsApp. It is known that Apple has been working on building a cord-cutting cable-replacement service, so it is possible Cook was alluding to this.
According to the SlashGear, that move hinted that Apple was serious about its Android app, and apparently that was indeed more than the case.
This nearly echoes Microsoft’s own strategy lately. Android users, provided their phone has an SD slot, are now only limited by the size of SD card they have.

Apple released Apple Music for Android in November, a few months after the service launched on iOS. This has seemingly worked for Redmond and might be the blueprint that Apple intends to follow.
