Apple to drop 11-inch MacBook Air? To unveil improved

Like previous Apple devices, it may also feature improved fingerprint scanners, Touch Force capabilities and Type-C USB ports, although the latter is less likely than the former.

The 2016 MacBook Air could see some major changes come its way, with a thinner body and a new 15-inch model. The smaller model will now come with a 13-inch display (which has been a feature of the larger model up to now), while a larger MacBook Air will sport a 15-inch display. Apple Insider pointed out that a MacBook Pro upgrade is long overdue and there’s a possibility that this is the model that might be receiving an upgrade instead considering that it seems pointless to discontinue a more mobile-friendly 11-inch Air. Hence, it’s high time that gets a makeover.

The MacBook Air is displayed at the Apple Store in New York February 1, 2008.

Since the new laptop devices are much slimmer, it will require very tiny components to function, and there is the report that Apple has already commissioned its internal component suppliers to provide these components to reflect a fully redesigned model device. However, the report gives no further details apart from the fact that the upcoming MacBook range will be slimmer, lighter with redesigned components. Apple probably will launch updated OS versions when it launches the new, slimmer versions of MacBook Air.

Earlier this year, Apple has expanded its MacBook lineup with the introduction of the svelte 12-inch Retina MacBook, which packs in low-voltage Intel chips. If it turns out to be true, then it obviously means that Apple are going to revise their strategy with the MacBook Air, and it could even indicate that they are looking to completely drop the uniqueness of the line in favor of a more advanced experience. The device was launched along with a new set of accessories; the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard have received rave reviews from fans.

“Still, Apple’s silence regarding the MacBook Pro 2016 may be for a good reason; they may just not be ready to launch it yet. If the release date would coincide with the big sales event, people would more likely purchase discounted offers and cheap bundles rather than shell out a huge amount of money on a newly-released notebook”, Master Herald noted. The 13.5-inch Surface Book has a 3,000 x 2,000 pixel resolution screen.
