Apple (AAPL) has been hinting about launching a new Apple TV device for months now, and it looks like the announcement of the product will happen in September, according to a report from Buzzfeed. The TV may even come with a “drastically improved” remote control that features touch. Apple’s mobile assistant technology, Siri, will also be central to the user experience offered by the new device. Instead, the company is looking to release the new device with existing third-party services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, and Showtime.
When Apple introduces its new iPhone lineup later this fall, Tim Cook and co. will also unveil a completely refreshed Apple TV.
The new Apple TV, which BuzzFeed’s sources claim to be a “more polished” variant of its predecessor, is headed to the market along with its own App Store and the announcement is reportedly scheduled for an Apple event in September. In addition, the company is expected to make this streaming box a component of the HomeKit devices, bringing remote access and much more. The benefit of releasing a new Apple TV in September is that it will be available during the holiday season rush. At that time, Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller said, “People are going to love streaming movies and TV shows in 1080p with the new Apple TV, and photos look lovely displayed at the maximum resolution of your TV”.

The company is rumoured to have held negotiations with US broadcasters including ABC, CBS and Fox over the expected online TV service, which is predicted to cost between $30 and $40 per month via subscription. The talk of equipping the TV with a Apple’s latest A8 chip would be a serious bump from the single-core Apple A5. Apple would be better to take a page from the iPod in terms of offering a product that was already around, but simply miles ahead in terms of quality.
