Apple to unveil next Apple TV version in Sept
The report, from BuzzFeed News, cites sources familiar with Apple’s plans who describe the new Apple TV as being “more polished” than earlier rumors suggested.

Now according to a recent report, the new Apple TV hardware will be made official at Apple’s iPhone 6S event in September.
We had assumed that the fourth generation Apple TV release date would be announced during WWDC, but it was a no show. It’ll come with a slimmer body and new internal components, including an Apple A8 processor (which now powers the iPhone 6) and increased storage.
What the new Apple TV would still apparently be missing is Apple’s subscription TV service, something else that has been in the works for quite some time.
Perhaps the most important addition is the expected launch of Apple TV’s own App Store and the associated software development kits that will be required to create a well-populated app ecosystem.
It’s fashionably late, but the next-generation Apple TV is finally ready for a debut. “My guess: Apple held it back for September to have something significantly “new” to announce alongside the new iPhones“. The new touchpad-equipped remote we reported on earlier this year is said to be included as well. Developers can open a whole new dimension by adding home automation apps to your little streaming box, which in turn will make the Apple TV gain even more sales.
Also, Apple may be planning to unveil a revamp of its Apple TV this September.
At the moment, though, you do need a phone: and that’s where the Apple TV comes in.
Called HBO Now, the on-demand service is launching exclusively on Apple devices next month and this is said to be a “taster” for what’s to come later this year. As Americans are increasingly “cutting the cord” and moving to Internet-based streaming services, Apple hopes to stay in the top of the market.
