Apple TV remote app turns iPhone into a remote control

Control and support for iTunes playback remain exclusive to the iTunes Remote app, which was released ahead of the launch of the first-generation Apple TV and has not been updated since December of 2015.

Apple today released its Apple TV Remote iOS app for controlling your fourth-generation Apple TV from your iPhone or iPad.

In addition, the app lets users type in text using the screen keyboard, which is a tedious task when using the Apple TV remote’s touchpad. “And you can use the app along with the Siri Remote”.

Reportedly, Apple’s new guide would tell you what’s on TV – except TV is now about apps. With Siri, users can find media to watch or listen to simply using voice commands through an iPhone. Single sign-on will allow customers with a cable subscription to sign into the Apple TV once and access all of the apps that are available through cable authentication. This simplifies the game controls by letting users set onscreen controls instead of having to use the iPhone’s sensors.

Describing its new app, the Apple Company declares that the user-friendly appearance and many new exciting features will make it nearly impossible for its users to let their iPhones down. However, this version of the app is not optimized for the iPad, while the previous version- which is still available for download- was iPad optimized.

The Apple TV Remote app works with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation Apple TVs and requires an iPhone running iOS 9.3.2 or later.

“Apple TV Remote is a great companion to Apple TV, delivering the best of the Siri Remote”. It supports movement-based accelerometer and gyroscope, too, although only on apps and games that explicitly make use of it.

You have to follow this simple procedure and can control your apple TV with your touch gestures.

Moreover, users can control the volume of their TV by touching the volume up and down buttons on their phone.
