Apple unveils new iPhone sans the headphone socket

If you are, you’ll be pleased to learn that both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are now available for pre-order, just like Apple said they would.

Despite the addition of new features such as waterproofing, twin high-resolution cameras and a pressure-sensitive button, most of the fuss about the iPhone 7 has been about something that’s missing.

When you join the program, you can get a new iPhone each and every year with low monthly payments, including Apple Care and you can even choose your own carrier. Focusing on the iPhone experience, Apple has upgraded the smartphone camera system, battery life, speakers and display, and has added splash and water resistance.

Posts on China’s popular Sina Weibo microblogging site show the iPhone 6, which took China by storm in 2014 with its new, larger screen, attracted around 15 times more comments in the month before launch than this year’s model.

The lightning adaptor will be required for existing headphones, which fits into the charging socket on the mobile. In instead, the new devices will be shipped wit a Lightning to 3.5-millimeter headphone jack adapter or you can buy the new product: AirPods – wireless headphones that look like the buds of the regular Apple headphones but cordless.

Although retailers have reported a surge in Apple’s newly launched wireless headphones – AirPods – sales, the market has been dogged by concerns about the sound quality, price and durability of product, a media report said. The iPhone 7 Plus ranges from £719 to £919. The biggest change in iPhone 7 is that the headphone jack is eliminated. The Lightning Audio + Charge Rockstar supports 48 kHz 24-bit audio output and it’s able to work with a variety of cases, including the iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case.

The matte black is similar to the already available space grey while the glossier jet black option is new and attractive but more susceptible to scratches.

Apple says it will not disclose opening weekend sales of the iPhone 7, claiming the early sales figures are “no longer a representative metric”. Preordering for the iPhone 7 begins on September 9. Customers will receive their new iPhones starting September 16.
