Apple unveils new watch at live event

While swimming appeared to be the main focus for the Series 2, running was the focus for a new partnership with the Watch, here is the Apple Watch Nike+ runner’s watch. It can be pre-ordered on September 9. Waterproofing uses the speaker itself, the primary vulnerability of Apple Watch, to eject water, meaning you get sound without a damaged device.

Targeting fitness enthusiasts, Apple executives have announced an update to the Apple Watch, which will now be waterproof and feature a Global Positioning System. Susan Prescott, vice president of worldwide apps marketing, demonstrated the new capabilities on stage, showing how the update enables users to live-edit presentations via the Mac, iPhone, iPad or Web.

Apple first showed WatchOS 3 in June at WWDC, its conference for outside developers who have been so important to making iPhones a success by creating more than 2 million apps.

While for those that were frustrated by the original’s sluggishness, the new watch gets a new chipset that promises to turbocharge its performance – and a bigger battery, too.

Remember those ,000 Apple Watches? Prices start at $369.

For those that want a little more style, there will be a new Hermes model as well.

Called Apple Watch Series 2, Apple has completely overhauled the internals of the device, with a new display as well as a new processor that makes the Watch “up to 50%” faster, Apple’s Jeff Williams said.

According to Apple, the Apple Watch has become the second most popular watch in the world, and the most popular Smartwatch – an interesting claim considering it lacked a ton of fitness tracking features.

Another Watch OS 3 feature is a “scribble” feature for messages that translates fingertip writing into text. “The Apple Watch has really changed what people expect from a watch”, Cook said.
