Apple’s new mid-range iPhone SE handset is likely to appeal to users who don’t want a phablet but who do want impressive specs in an affordable model, Jan Dawson of Jackdaw Research (a FierceWireless contributor) wrote in a research note.

Few of Monday’s announcements surprised industry experts. Even though smaller, the iPad Pro packs what Apple terms as “Pro” features that include “pro display”, “pro audio”, “pro performance” as well as “pro accessories”, among other goodies.
Apple now sells a new Lightning SD Card Reader and Lighting USB Camera Adapter, which will make photo transfers a breeze with USB 3 speeds.
“At the heart is our chips, our Apple A9 chip”, Apple’s vice president of iPhone marketing Greg Joswiak said, referring to the same 64-bit chip found in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

But in India and China, smartphones are often the main connection to the digital world, and a big screen is highly valued, analysts said.
The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus devices – Apple’s largest models to date – were criticised after they launched in September 2014 as owners complained that they bent under pressure. The last years iPhones also came with same screen sizes as their predecessors. Starting at $399 for 16 GB of storage, the phone gives Apple the ability to compete in the mid-price market. Sales have faltered and innovation has all but stalled. Well, there’s also a new iPad (exciting). The new iPad Pro is the “ultimate PC replacement”, he said.
Apple also unveiled a smaller model of the iPad Pro, which the company introduced past year with several features – like a detachable keyboard and stylus – designed for business users.
Apple is also promoting new uses for its devices, particularly in health care.
The company also rolled out some new bands for the Apple Watch, as well as a smaller 9.7-inch model of the iPad Pro at the event at its headquarters in Cupertino, California.

After Jackson, the company’s COO Jeff Williams took the stage to talk about CareKit, an open source platform that allows developers to create health care apps. Apple says both are packed with the latest technology.
