Apple unveils water-resistant iPhone 7; headphone jack question remains unanswered

Apple has revealed the iPhone 7 Plus, its latest “phablet” style smartphone that sports dual cameras and a sleeker design than the iPhone 6S Plus. They’re including an adapter for analog headphones (the ones you’re now using) in the box.

Apple has confirmed that iPhone 7 price will start from Rs. 60,000. This time, however, the difference between them is more significant. Meanwhile, those who opt for the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will pay $1,269 for a 32GB model, $1,419 for the 128GB model or $1,569 for the 256GB model.

The manufacturer also boasts a new and improved home button, which has a Taptic Engine and will be more responsive.

Instead of the traditional headphone connection, iPhone packages will now come with earphones that fit into the phone’s Lighting port, currently used for charging and data transfer.

The world’s best-known technology company made the details of the new phone public in a series of tweets that were quickly taken down, but not before being widely retweeted.

The iPhone 7 itself will begin selling pre-orders on Friday and they will be available in stores September 16. For a cute $159 you get two little pods that will fall out of your ear because they’re not connected to anything but can sense when you’re talking. But mostly, the company sees wireless audio as the future. You can pre-order online from 7pm September 9.

Almost everyone these days has headphones and speakers based on the 3.5 mm headphone jack and they could essentially become redundant if they invest in the iPhone 7, unless a specific Lightening-adapter is created, which let’s face it is the last thing anyone wants to buy.
