Apple Wants Wide-range Wireless iPhone Charging for 2017
Apple might as early as 2017 implement wireless-charging technology that charges iPhones and iPads within inches or feet of a wireless charging station, eliminating the need to place a device on a charging mat, Bloomberg reported. Currently, they are busy in manoeuvring technical barriers like loss of power over distance charging and adverse effect on health with transmission of power through the air. Apple does use a type of wireless charging tech, an inductive charger, for its Apple Watch.
According to a survey conducted by IHS in June 2015, one-fifth of respondents said they were using wireless charging, and of that number just 16 percent said they were using the technology daily. A Bloomberg report leads us to believe that the American technology giant is doing all it can so that its gadgets can be charged from a distance, and by that, we mean a considerable distance.
iDigitalTimes requested a comment from Apple regarding the possibility of a wireless charging feature for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but we have not received a response yet. Some of Samsung’s newer phones, such as the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+, support high-speed wireless charging.

Apple followed up in 2013 with an application for a patent for an aluminum phone casing that would allow radio-frequency waves to pass through via a small window, which would be conducive to better transmission of signals.
