“Please login with Facebook to submit your Facebook Likes to our prediction engine and view the output of the API.” reads the instruction on the Apply Magic Sauce website. It uses this data to build up a picture of who you are, which it can then us to customise your News Feed and target adverts.
]It also puts you on spectra for the “Big 5” personality traits of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. These inform you, for instance, wheter you’re impulsive or organised, conservative or liberal and so forth.
What’s special about this disconcerting app is that it only uses Facebook likes – causing it to unnerve some people. You can take further tests to narrow your personality down further, and in some cases see how you compare to the average.
And while the app cautions that it’s a measure of how you display your personality online, and not of your personality itself, I found that it was startlingly accurate: It got my gender, my job and my age right, within a year, and it accurately predicted my relationship status, sexual orientation and political and religious affiliations.
This tool, created by organisational behaviour professor Michal Kosinski for research, demonstrates some of the kinds of information that just your Facebook likes can reveal.
You will be requested to log in by way of Fb.
Check out Apply Magic Sauce here. The web site says it exclusively collects your profile’s LikeIDs, however, won’t retailer any of your info as soon as the check is full.
