Aqib Talib Pokes Eye of Colts TE

Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib will nearly certainly hear from the league office this week and face a fine after Talib was penalized for poking Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen in the eye and for berating an official in the closing minutes of Sunday’s 27-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

In the end, Talib’s unsportsmanlike conduct handed the Colts a first-and-goal from the 6.

The penalty gave the Colts a first down. “No matter which way you look at it, Talib’s apparent actions were bush league, and based on the footage, he seems to deserve whatever punishment the NFL hands down”, says Tyler Conway of Bleacher Report. I totally understand that emotions are part of this game.

After the game the player tried unconvincingly to pretend he didn’t really know what had happened.

“I was just clapping my hands”.

After the game Talib told media he was trying to poke Allen’s head because he was arguing with Miller, not poke Allen in the eye.

“Out of nowhere, I saw something and it went into my eye”, Allen said, via ESPN.

“I don’t even remember, man”, Talib told USA Today. When asked if it was intentional he responded, “Oh, man. You think I play football to poke people in the eye?” “All right, well, it was an honest mistake”. If Talib is suspended for any length of time, the Broncos need to address the glaring hole at cornerback before the upcoming matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Davis was not expected to play a full workload in his first game for Denver and next week he should end up playing more snaps for the team. You have to handle your business. Considering Denver was only trailing 27-24 at the time and features the NFL’s leader in fourth-quarter comebacks under center, forcing an Indianapolis field goal was of the utmost importance in that spot. Peyton Manning missed setting the all-time passing yards record by three yards, Ronnie Hillman and CJ Anderson struggled, while Aqib Talib was called for a penalty late for an eye poke against Dwayne Allen.
