Back in 2013, perennial indie-rock gods Arcade Fire caused a stir in Miami when they descended upon a couple of midsized venues in downtown and Little Haiti as the mysterious masked band the Reflektors.

Reflektor Tapes shuffles through Jamaica, Haiti, Los Angeles, London and the band’s hometown. “It’s a little soundtrack for people that need it right now”, the rapper said on his radio show before playing the tape. It opens in theaters on September 23.

“It’s nearly like a remix record”, frontmanWin Butler recently told Billboard, “just in its way of thinking about film, thinking about our music”.

A cassette-only release of The Reflektor Tapes, featuring the six tracks added in the deluxe album, will be available on October 16.

In the queasy quasi-documentary The Reflektor Tapes, the members of Arcade Fire try to have it both ways: They drop in as ghostly voiceovers that run together with impressionistic footage both live and from recording studios. Pre-order those here.
