Archos Diamond S Android Smartphone Announced

Now, in the lead up to IFA next month in Berlin, ARCHOS has just announced the latest smartphone which is also being added to the Diamond line. It has dual-SIM functionality and 4G LTE support. According to Loic Poirier, CEO of ARCHOS, “There is an enormous demand for superlative smartphones like the ARCHOS Diamond S at prices that the average person can afford“. The 16GB of internal storage gives you more breathing room, though you can expand that by up to 32GB with the MicroSD card slot.

Powering Archos’s new Diamond S is a octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 2300mAh battery.

The Archos 50e Helium runs Android 5.1.1, but it is “almost identical” with the 50 Cesium. Above the display sits an 8-megapixel camera, while a 16-megapixel camera rests in the back of the Diamond S. This camera duo should offer up much better results.

The device will boast of a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU and Adreno 304 GPU.

Speaking of size, the Archos 50 Cesium flaunts the dimension of 147 x 72.5 x 8.5 mm. At this point, we should note that the device is bound to ship out with Windows 10 Mobile out of the box, so the fact that it will be available starting this November gives us an idea about when Windows 10 Mobile will actually launch.

You’ll find the same resolution screen on the front, though the Diamond S swaps out the IPS panels found in the 50 Cesium and 50e Helium for Samsung’s contrast-rich Super AMOLED panel.

So the Archos 50 Cesium gets to be one of the first Windows 10-running smartphones ever to be made official.

The two upcoming Lumias, believed to be the Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940 XL, will be showcased together with the Surface Pro 4 and Band 2 during Microsoft’s press event to be held in October, multiple reports have claimed.
