After Pedro’s departure and the injury sustained by Rafinha – who will be out for six months – Barcelona only have young starlets to rotate their famous attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez with.

“Barça can register a substitute for Rafinha”.

“FIFA sanctioned Barcelona for two transfer windows, last winter and this summer, and they’ve since passed,” he told Sport.

The reigning La Liga champions signed Turan on a £24 million transfer from Atletico Madrid over the summer but are unable to register the bearded winger until January 4 2016 due to the Federation Internationale de Football Association transfer ban now in place.

However, Freixa went on to add that Barcelona would need to officially rule Rafinha out for the remainder of the 2015-16 before requesting and receiving permission from the RFEF to sign another player as his replacement.

However, Marca reports that the Nou Camp club feel that they have already carried out the requirements of the sanction and that they now might be able to inscribe and field Turan.
