Aretha Franklin Is Canceling Upcoming Performances On Doctor’s Orders

Aretha Franklin is canceling several upcoming concerts to rest up. One of the schedule shows in NY was for “Tony Bennett Celebrates 90” on September 15 and the other was a solo show on September 23. This year she’s canceling three shows, because her doctor says she needs to lay down.

A pair of Radio City Music Hall shows in NY – an appearance at the Tony Bennett Celebrates 90 show on September 15th and Franklin’s solo concert on September 23rd – have also been canceled along with October gigs in Detroit and St. Louis.

The Queen of Soul cancelled a performance in Las Vegas previous year, citing exhaustion.

November concerts in Minnesota and Chicago are still on scheduled, reports Rolling Stone. She previously rescheduled performances in Oklahoma in October 2015 because of a reluctance to travel.

She added, “I am so sorry to have to disappoint my fans there, but I will reschedule”.

She said it was partly related to the health concern she had in 2011 that led her to cancel shows at that time, fueling cancer rumors that Franklin later squashed in an interview with Access Hollywood.
