Argentina beats champion Britain to reach Davis Cup final
World number 53 Dan Evans will instead face 114-ranked Leonardo Mayer with the victor of that match securing a place in the final of the Davis Cup against Croatia – who beat France in the other semi-final on Sunday – after world number two Andy Murray levelled the semi-final in Glasgow at 2-2 with a 6-3 6-2 6-3 singles win over Guido Pella despite battling a thigh injury and tiredness.

The 53rd-ranked Evans still went down 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to Mayer, who is ranked 114th.
Croatia, who beat France 3-2 in Zadar, were champions in 2005 while Argentina have already contested four finals but have never lifted the trophy.
Argentina led 2-0 after the opening round of singles matches, but now find themselves having to win the final match to progress to the tournament final.
It faces Croatia in the final.
However, despite the boisterous support of the home crowd, world number 53 Evans could not prevent Argentina from reaching their fifth final in the men’s team competition as they seek their first Davis Cup crown.
“He played unbelievably well throughout the whole match”.
Attention then turned to Evans on Sunday afternoon as he faced off with Mayer but, despite taking the opening set with the only break of serve in the third game, the 26-year-old was unable to push on.
Murray, who partnered his big brother Jamie to doubles success on Saturday, made light work of Pella to claim his 30th win from 33 Davis Cup singles matches in just over two hours.

Earlier in the day Murray had offered Britain hope with a comprehensive defeat of Pella. “I have to go and see what’s up and get some treatment”, Murray said.
