Chris Martin had the tough but fun task of curating Global Citizen Festival 2015, the music event that brings awareness to global poverty in hopes of eradicating it by 2030. “Amazing Day” will likely find its way onto Coldplay’s forthcoming album, A Head Full Of Dreams, which now has no set release date and is rumored to be the band’s last album.
“We are not a generation of bystanders”, The Global Citizen Festival boldly states on its website. Coldplay said on Twitter that their keys broke one minute before taking the stage, which meant that Chris and Ariana sang this piano-driven My Everything ballad on acoustic guitar instead.
“We are going to play a new song now”, Martin told the crowd.
The song started off slow, but in typical Coldplay fashion, it built and got faster towards the end. Martin and Grande rehearsed their duet on piano, which left Coldplay to improvise the performance on Saturday.
The band were also joined on stage by Ariana Grande for a rendition of her album track “Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart”, which was co-written by One Direction’s Harry Styles.
