Iupati underwent an MRI on Wednesday and will likely require arthroscopic knee surgery, which would hold him out 6-to-8 weeks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Iupati is known for his powerful run blocking.

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians announced Thursday, per Arizona’s official Twitter account, Peters will miss the entirety of the 2015 season after tearing his Achilles. “He should be able to bounce back mentally quicker”. Arians said that the first man up to replace Peters will be 2015 fourth-round pick Rodney Gunter, who the team traded up to get after being impressed by his work at Delaware State.

Recent Arizona Cardinals free agent addition, guard Mike Iupati, will reportedly miss the next several weeks due to a knee injury and subsequent procedure.

The Cardinals lured Iupati, 28, away from rival San Francisco with a five-year, $40 million contract which included $22.5 million guaranteed. Locally, Mike Jurecki said it could be four to six weeks. Larsen started at the position for Arizona all of last season.

The Cardinals are going to have to wait until the second year of that deal to get any contributions from Peters, however. He spent the first five years of his career with the Falcons, recovering from a torn right Achilles he suffered at the end of the 2012 season to play in 15 games in 2013 and earn a one-year deal to stay with the Falcons.
