Arizona Cardinals Sign Running Back Chris Johnson

David Johnson, the Cardinals third round pick, has been suffering with a hamstring injury and until August 17 did not practice.

The Cardinals were one of the worst teams on the ground last season in the entire league producing just 3.29 yards per carry in the 2014 season, and the team is hoping the acquisition of Johnson will help their running game in the upcoming 2015 season.

Arizona’s presumed starter, Andre Ellington, has been slowed by a hamstring problem in training camp.

The Cardinals may be giving Chris Johnson a shot, but he’s giving the world a look at his. It was still said, yeah, both guys [Johnson and Ivory] were going to get playing time. Ellington along with the rookie Johnson, needs to show they can be healthy and reliable for this team.

After a week of thinking it over, Chris Johnson decided he’s ready to play for the Arizona Cardinals.

Johnson, who turns 30 next month, played with the New York Jets last season, his seventh in the NFL, and recorded career lows for carries (155), yards rushing (663) and rushing touchdowns (one) after signing a two-year, $8-million deal. As I’ve said a few times, we’ll see what pans out. “He’s so young that he probably doesn’t know who Chris Johnson is”. The 29-year-old had previously topped 1,000 yards in every NFL season since he was drafted in 2008, including his 2,006 yard 2009 campaign. Last week was pretty rough with receiver Michael Floyd dislocating a few fingers and requiring immediate surgery.

On March 8, Chris Johnson was wounded in the shoulder when someone opened fire on the vehicle in which he was riding in Orlando, Florida. “I thought Stepfan (Taylor) ran hard, Robert Hughes ran hard”.
