Arizona insider: Hillary Clinton’s Nevada win all but locks up Democratic nomination
Sanders is trailing Clinton by more than 20 points in the next Democratic primary state, South Carolina, by a wide margin, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls. Clinton told host Jake Tapper. But Clinton doesn’t have to worry about delegate math just yet, because she’s just won an important victory that makes clear she’s still the front-runner in this campaign. She will not back away. “She knew Nevada a lot better than we did, she had the names of a lot of her supporters”. “Americans are right to be angry, but we’re also hungry for real solutions”, she added, a line that seemed aimed at aggrieved voters who like the urgency of Mr Sanders but may doubt he can enact his ambitious agenda.

“The truth is, we aren’t a single-issue country. We spent a lot of time talking with voters in the last week about the barriers they felt [we impeding} their getting ahead”. “She’s qualified”, said Pennant, who serves as a campaign phone bank captain in Orangeburg. More good paying jobs and rising incomes again. “We all want to get secret unaccountable money out of politics”, Ms Clinton said. “[Increasing] clean and renewable energy, especially in Nevada which should be the solar energy capital of the West”. To that point, Sanders continues to excel with young voters, including non-whites. “So tonight, I am suspending my campaign”. Another 45 percent said they trusted Sanders more to pursue policies that raise the incomes of average Americans, with Clinton polling at 38 percent in the same category.
“This was a state that Bernie Sanders was surging in and he had the ability to pull off an upset in the first diverse primary state, frankly”, former Arizona State legislator Chris Herstam said. He stressed today that his campaign continues to gain momentum and is attracting once unimaginable sums in grass-roots campaign contributions.
The Vermont senator, now in SC, said he has a “major rally” in the state Sunday evening and his campaign is “not skipping over anything” there.
“We have come a very long way in nine months”.
Clinton has been expected to find easier territory as contests move into the south in the state-by-state battles to pick a party presidential nominee for the November general election.
But Sanders faces a tough climb in attracting African-American voters, a bloc that accounted for 55 percent of South Carolina’s Democratic electorate eight years ago. That is thanks to a 3-to-1 advantage among black voters, according to a Bloomberg politics poll.
Erica Garner, the daughter of Eric Garner, who died in NY in 2014 after police used a chokehold to subdue him, accompanied Sanders to Allen and ventured to neighboring Benedict College the next day to speak with students in the campus cafeteria.

The tough moment has arrived for LGBTQ Bernie Sanders supporters (which a new poll puts at 41 percent to Hillary Clinton’s 48 percent).
