Bielema knows Patterson spent the week out to correct every first-game flaw. He is more risk adverse. In addition to Patterson’s ability to build a defense, he also recognized the need for change on offense. “The key is you go into a ballgame trying to win and see how it turns out”.
For most of the game, it had Bret Bielema’s paws all over it as he inexplicably stalked the sidelines in a full sleeved jacket in Texas in September. It’s had mixed results to say the least. This year’s newcomers Colton Jackson, Hjalte Froholdt and Jake Raulerson played well at times last week, but they were also slow to react to Louisiana Tech’s adjustments.
The Arkansas Razorbacks began their season by playing host to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. What would anyone else be thinking, with the Hogs starting two players seeing their first offensive line action in a college game, and another starter who was second team at Texas before transferring during the summer to get a graduate degree at UA.
Patterson is ignoring that the Razorbacks didn’t impress in their opening-season win, either. Tackling wasn’t sharp at all, and the purported depth at linebacker that was supposedly developed in the spring and preseason workouts didn’t make it on to the field.
It was a rough first weekend for the SEC, but Arkansas could help out its conference with an upset win on the road against TCU. However, my guess is Louisiana Tech is a much better team than SDSU.
Saturday night’s matchup will be the biggest test of Allen’s career. “I’m sure I’m not the only one”. But if the game is as close as the line and the analytics study suggests, it should be entertainingly close. Plus, big returns have a way of igniting the frenzy of a sellout crowd of 48,000 in lovely, rebuilt Amon Carter Stadium, which has been constructed more vertically than, say, War Memorial Stadium, and at times recently has seemed as loud as some SEC stadiums with twice the turnout.
TCU a Top 10 Team? A fonder memory for TCU when it comes to this series is when the Frogs blew out the Razorbacks 54-26 in Fayetteville during the 1990 season, their most recent victory against Arkansas. I didn’t even know he did that.

I still rate TCU as having a much better than average defense and they’ll likely show that against what I think will be a mediocre Arkansas offense.
