Arkansas Unemployment Falls to 5.1 Percent in October
The unemployment rates for Grand Island, Lincoln and Omaha have not been seasonally adjusted, so they can not be directly compared with the state unemployment rate. September’s unemployment rate was 5.2 percent.

The director for the University of Arkansas Center for Business and Economic Research Kathy Deck said other key sectors like construction are performing well (up 8,200 since October 2014) but despite a good month the state is lagging behind in manufacturing.
The figures of the Beaumont region are not seasonally adjusted. The state unemployment rate is now 5.7 percent, while the federal unemployment rate is 4.8 percent.
The low initial claims number fell during the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ so-called survey week, which makes the low number all the more important.
Leisure and hospitality – which includes hotels and restaurants – shed 2,300 jobs on the month in Minnesota. The unemployment rate fell to 5 percent which is generally considered to be a condition of full employment.
“Preliminary estimates for October show an additional increase of 2,700 jobs, for a two-month gain of more than 10,000 jobs”, said Tyler Tenbrink, Senior Labor Economist, Kansas Department of Labor. “That said, the state will be hard-pressed to realize tangible and meaningful CT job growth on an average annual basis in 2016, in my estimation”.
The downward trend is typical for this time of year as employers hire seasonal help for the holidays, said Curtis Englehart, an administrator with the Mesa County Department of Human Services.
The state lost 2,200 jobs in October and Connecticut’s unemployment rate last month was 5.1 percent, down from 5.2 percent in September.
Current month’s data are preliminary; previous month’s data are revised.
