These other new tools include the mbed Device Connector, which provides security and development benefits including the ability to connect devices within prototype deployments, hopefully shortening the time needed to carry out hardware design time.

Atmel is a leading supplier of IoT solutions, and the company’s SmartConnect wireless solutions are the flawless companion for the mbed networking software to power next-generation smart, connected devices.

Built to enable the IoT to scale, the mbed OS Technology Preview version is the latest iteration of the modular OS for ARM Cortex-M based MCUs.

The Smart City reference design is aimed at infrastructure monitoring and smart industrial applications that look after a large number of connected devices, allowing for the quick deployment, configuration and management of routers and end devices in industrial applications that will reduce the bill of materials for end devices.

“ARM mbed creates a secure foundation that allows developers to create and deploy IoT applications at scale more easily than ever before”, said Zach Shelby, vice president of marketing, IoT business, ARM.

A year ago ARM introduced its mbed IoT device platform and it has improved its mbed operating system and introduced mbed reference designs.

The mbed Device Connector is at the heart of ARM’s new IoT deployment platform version.

More than 55 partners have joined the mbed Partnership Program and 20 of them are attending ARM TechCon 2015. ARMs platform supports open standards for device connectivity and device management as well as ensuring future device integration as the IoT market evolves.

“The Open Mobile Alliance Lightweight M2M standard addresses the industry need for device management and secure connectivity for in the Internet of Things, as current market fragmentation and security concerns have ultimately reduced market adoption”, said Frank Ploumen, director, IoT solutions, Alcatel-Lucent. ARMs collaboration with wot.io empowers customers of ARM-based chip companies to develop and deploy IoT applications quickly with wot.io, through a choice of pre-integrated, scalable data services. The FRDM-CR20A board provides a low-power 802.15.4 radio, and when combined with the FRDM-K64F board, creates the basis for a fully functional, wireless, cloud-connected IoT platform, further enabling new technologies including Thread low-power mesh wireless networks, according to Freescale. The annual conference attracts chip architects, software developers, designers, hardware engineers and other professionals who work with ARM technologies.
