Multiple local news agencies reported that no one was killed or injured during the attack, while a large area around the palace was cordoned off from the public.
The reports said that according to current information there were no reports of fatalities or injuries.
The two assailants were apprehended in the neighboring Gümüşsuyu neighborhood near the German consulate.
Dolmabahce Palace, now a museum and a major tourist attraction, was built in the late 1800s under the Ottoman Empire.
The incident comes amid an escalation of violence between Turkey’s security forces and Kurdish rebels and as Turkey continues to carry out operations against terror groups including Islamic State (ISIS).
