Armed Murder Suspect Dayonte Resiles Remains at Large in Florida: Cops

Earlier this morning, an accused murderer executed a Houdini-like escape from the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, forcing the Broward Sheriff’s Office to evacuate the courthouse and mobilize an all-hands-on-deck manhunt.

Israel said Resiles’ 18-year-old girlfriend, LaQuay Stern, parked her silver BMW under a bridge next to the Broward County Courthouse on Friday, where she waited with Winston Russell, 22. He shed his jail jumpsuit and ran outside. They said police dogs sniffed the jumpsuit to get Resiles scent before being employed to track him.

According to Stern’s arrest report, the escape was planned and included a rental vehicle, a change of clothes, including a police uniform, boots and a gun belt.

Next, they drove to West Palm Beach, where the two teens, who are twins, were picked up, and the foursome drove down to the Broward County Courthouse.

“I saw a blur and I saw a black and white striped blur, like a very quick Cheshire cat running in the corner of my eye and obviously it was a defendant, I knew it was somebody who was in the jury box”, he said.

Witnesses inside the courtroom say that a BSO deputy was able to grab onto Resiles’ clothing, but the inmate got loose. A prosecutor was also hurt when she was hit by the door to the courtroom as Resiles fled.

Broward County officials have already searched apartment complexes in the area and homes of Resiles’ relatives.

According to arrest documents, the escape was planned during several phone calls and visitations Resiles had with Stern and Russell. “Whether or not he was secure, we will find out when we investigate”, the sheriff said. The twins face the same charges as juveniles. “The fact that Resilles remains at large today, tells me there are more people aiding and abetting him in his escape”.
