Army chief, Egyptian leadership vow to synergise efforts in fighting terrorism
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif reached Cairo on Monday on a two-day official visit Inter Services Public Relations Director General General Asim Bajwa tweeted.

The Egyptian leaders expressed specific interest in benefiting from the Pakistan Army’s experience in all facets of fighting terrorism, including countering improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Sharif, for his part, said he was “proud of his country’s cooperation with Egypt, particularly in the military and security fields”.
Army chief General Raheel Sharif, who is now visiting Egypt, on Tuesday called for unity among Muslim nations to fight the menace of terrorism.
While in Pakistan, the Egyptian defense minister had met with Sharif and Pakistani Military Chief-of-Staff Gen. Rashad Mahmoud. In the fight against militants in North Sinai, hundreds of Egyptian security personnel have been killed by IEDs.
Egyptian president stated that the Muslim ummah needs to counter the menace of terrorism in harmony. el-Sisi acknowledged the efforts of Pakistan army in regards to establishing peace in the region.

Last May, Egypt received the first batch of mine resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicles from the United States, with a total 762 MRAPs delivered at no cost to help in the country’s fight against terrorism.
