According to Croton-On-Hudson police Detective Sgt. John Nikitopoulos, police received a call at 1:50 a.m. Sunday about a motor vehicle accident.
Cadet Brandon Jackson, a West Point Army football player from New York City, died in a single-car crash in Croton-on-Hudson hours after the military academy won its second consecutive game to open the season. Authorities are awaiting toxicology reports to see if drugs or alcohol were involved, News 12 reports.
Army is now 2-0 with wins over Temple and Rice in the first two weeks of the college football season.
Caslen said Jackson was following the example of his mother, an Iraq War veteran. He represented West Point values in all aspects of life.
Our deepest condelences go out to Jackson’s friends and family as they deal with this hard time. His death will be mourned by all who have known him. “Brandon internalized our watchwords, duty, honor, country”.
Jackson, who was born in Flushing and slated to graduate in 2019, was the starting defensive back on the Army West Point football team and contributed two solo tackles and an assist in Saturday’s winning game against Rice.
