“One more death was reported around this noon when Sourabh Katiyar (21) was washed away in a swollen nullah near Shahpur lake here while travelling on a motorcycle”.
Chouhan said he has postponed the scheduled meeting with his cabinet colleagues at Halali dam near Bhopal on Sunday and asked ministers to rush to their respective districts and remain there to monitor the situation and help out people in distress. With the relief and rescue operation in process, the authorities have evacuated thousands of people and moved them to a safer ground.
Chouhan also informed that there was flooding at several places, following incessant rains over the last few days. More than 800 people from Satna’s Kripalpur and Madhavgadh areas are at a shelter camp in a nearby school.
The government has mobilised helicopters to reach aid to flood affected areas in Satna and Rewa districts.
Many villages were cut off from the rest of the state as the heavy downpour resulted in submergence of various roads.
