In early February, Schwarzenegger also lauded Kasich’s accomplishments days before the New Hampshire primary, speaking admiringly of the OH governor, recalls NBC News.

But Mr. Kasich calmly continued to hold town hall meetings where he listened to people, answered their questions and learned from them.

Thursday night’s debate in Detroit became Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s moment.

The former California governor had previously contributed to Kasich’s campaign and has called him “The Terminator.”

GOP presidential hopeful Ohio Gov. John Kasich speaks during the annual Conservative Political Action Conference 2016 at National Harbor just outside Washington, D.C., Friday.

“I mean it is always possible that somebody could do something that is so egregious that I would not want to be behind them, but let’s see”, Kasich said adding, “And I am not counting myself out on that”. “No one understands his impact on our country more than his son Michael, so to receive this endorsement is a tremendous honor for me”.

At a time when Ohio Gov. John Kasich is lagging far behind in the GOP primaries, he received a powerful boost from actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It also comes ahead of two important dates in the presidential race: Michigan’s primary on March 8, and Ohio’s 66-delegate primary on March 15.

The camera then turns to reveal the happy-looking Kasich, who endearingly chimes in with, ‘Thank you Arnold. “He was the action hero”, said Schwarzenegger.

Barbara McNamee, an administrator at Monroe County Community College, said of Kasich: “Right now, he seems to be my preferred candidate”.

The GOP front-runner tells his supporters: “After making this huge U-turn to Kansas, if I lose, I’m going to so angry at you”.

Kasich has tried to present himself as an alternative to Trump and his aggressive campaign style. Schwarzenegger says he was so impressed with Kasich that he started campaigning for his Congressional race.

Both Rubio and Kasich have similar delegate strategies going forward – they’re aiming to win their delegate-rich winner-take-all home states of Florida and OH, respectively, to propel themselves nearer the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination.
