Arrest made in death of woman found dangling from fence

Law enforcement officials in Chillicothe (chihl-ih-KAHTH’-ee) said Wednesday that 31-year-old Rebecca Cade was apparently in a fight, ran from her attacker, got into a lot surrounded by a fence, then got stuck on the fence trying to get out.

The identity of the woman found dead Tuesday morning has not yet been released.

Chillicothe investigators say the woman’s sleeve was caught on a fence, and her body had been hanging from that position.

Municipal Court Judge Toni Eddy set Cochenour’s bond at $2 million. She said they also recovered a few type of item that detectives believe Cochenour used to fatally beat the woman.

Police said Cochenour, 27, was taken into custody at about 6:15 p.m., Tuesday, without incident. Three family members were in the courtroom as Cochenour made his first court appearance, done by video monitor. His case will go to a grand jury, which will decide if prosecutors have enough evidence to continue the case. The woman was found at about 8:30 a.m. near a fence line at the dead end of North Brownell Street, according to a press release by the Chillicothe Police Department.
