The arrest warrants have been issued for Lucas Domingues Piazon, aged 21, and Andrey Da Silva Ventura, aged 22. Police have also confirmed that Mr Piazon and Mr Ventura are no longer in Canada and would need to be extradited in order to face the charges. They returned to Brazil with their soccer team on July 27. Beaven-Desjardins said that after the victim went to sleep in her bedroom, the two suspects allegedly entered the room and sexually assaulted her.

According to Beaven-Desjardins, the Crown Attorney’s Office made the decision regarding the different warrants.

The two men fled when the victim woke up, Beaven-Desjardins said. “It would be good for the victim and themselves to cooperate”. Piazon has an Ontario-wide warrant out for his arrest.

The group then went back to one of the women’s homes, said Insp.

He confirmed that Piazon is on loan from Chelsea to Reading, but reiterated that Piazon is Chelsea’s player.

“We are aware of reports”, said a spokesman for Chelsea FC, and declined to comment further.

He is not in custody, said Beaven-Desjardins, adding there is no evidence the two cases are related.

The two sexual assaults are not connected.
