According to MSN News today, on November 2 the alleged gang members lured Tyshawn Lee, who was in a park playing basketball, into an alley where they shot him dead with a single gunshot. Police said Stokes was uncooperative with their investigation, and Stokes has since faced criticism for the ways he tried to raise money after Lee’s death.

“We’re pretty sure that this is not an accident”, said McCarthy, claiming the boy was targeted because of his “family relationship with a member of a gang”. Authorities have also issued a first-degree murder warrant for a man named Kevin Edwards, McCarthy said.

“He’s definitely on the run, we believe he’s still in the area”, McCarthy said.

Morgan, 27, was captured a week ago on a random weapons charge, however had been free on safeguard subsequent to meeting the $1 million bond prerequisites with the help of his better half. He was shot several times, including a fatal shot to the side of the head.

Corey Morgan, who was earlier considered a “person of interest” in the case, was arrested and charged with murder, according to Chicago Police News Affairs.

Chief Medical Examiner Stephen J. Cina, who performed the autopsy, found evidence of gunpowder burns on the side of Tyshawn’s face, an indication that the gunman fired one shot at close range, he wrote.

Assistant State’s Attorney George Canellis said the shooting stemmed from an ongoing feud between Morgan’s gang, the BBG (Bang Bang Gang)/Terror Dome faction of the Black P Stones and the Killaward faction of the Gangster Disciples.

“That gang just signed its own death warrant”, Superintendent Garry McCarthy said Friday.

“But there was a lot of fear, which is completely understandable”.

Morgan’s arrest was announced on Twitter early Friday by Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

Morgan was taken into custody by the Chicago police department’s fugitive apprehension unit.

Depending on who is doing the talking, McCarthy said it is still not clear what Morgan’s exact role was in Tyshawn’s murder.
