Arrow: Colton Haynes set to return as Roy

Ever since Haynes’s character left the show in season 3, fans have wondered if and when he might return.

“We are beyond thrilled that Colton will be returning to Arrow this season”, Guggenheim said. When last we saw Roy, Thea followed him out of town for one last goodbye, after he’d taken the fall as the original Arrow, and faked his death in prison to spare the rest of the team.

Following have leftArrow last season, it’s now confirmed that Colton Haynes will be back as Roy Harper.

Aside from the confirmation that the actor will be returning for the season, Guggenheim also revealed when exactly he will be returning.

Are you happy to hear that Colton Haynes will be returning to Arrow later this season? In fact, Roy’s return might be happening just to raise the melodrama level of Thea’s new romance with Alex Davis (Parker Young). Executive Producer Wendy Mericle said that “it’ll be an interesting dynamic to see”.

When TVLine spoke with EP Wendy Mericle this summer, she hinted that a possible reappearance from Roy could have consequences for Thea’s new relationship with Oliver’s campaign advisor. The crossover will feature the first appearance of Kendra Saunders in her Hawkgirl costume as well as the debut of Hawkman.

With the return happening in season 4, episode 12, that will be after the set-up for Legends of Tomorrow and the winter finale.

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on ABC. The show is on hiatus for the coming week.
