Arsène Wenger denies that pressure of going top was behind Arsenal defeat
Ronald Koeman’s side returned to winning ways on Boxing Day when they destroyed title challengers Arsenal 4-0 at St. Mary’s Stadium in the league.

The Gunners missed the opportunity to usurp Leicester City, who had earlier slipped up at Liverpool, at the top of the Premier League in their worst league defeat since the 6-0 drubbing at Chelsea in the 2013-14 season.
The Gunners face the Cherries on Monday, coming off the back of a 4-0 defeat to Southampton on the weekend, and Wenger hopes for a response from his charges following widespread criticism after their loss.
“I said before the game at the moment if we are one point ahead or one point behind it is not too important”.
“We lost too many challenges, they were sharper than us, and we were a bit unlucky as well”, Wenger said.
A fantastic run of form has helped Boumemouth get out of the bottom three before the end of the calendar year and it would take a special set of results for them to end 2015 in one of those positions. Their first shot on goal went into the top corner from the right-back (Martina), the second goal came after a foul on (Laurent) Koscielny. “It’s true that we couldn’t score, but we conceded goals (against Southampton) and we have enough defenders”.
Arsenal will look to bounce back from Boxing Day’s annihilation at the hands of Southampton when Bournemouth travel to the Emirates on Monday night, with manager Arsene Wenger considering changes for the Premier League encounter as the second half of the season gets underway.
“On Saturday we were not good enough to win the game”.
Wenger says his side must win games like these in order to beat the likes of Manchester City, Spurs, Leicester and Manchester United to the title.
Arsene Wenger: “We are in a job where you have to respond”. It’s not. All the more reason to keep it LOCKED to Telegraph Sport, where we will bring you full live coverage. “But we are a club with a tradition on that front as well and we have top players inside”. “We have to manage the players well and maybe tweak the side slightly”.
“I think another example that sometimes it’s very hard to explain why something happens”, the Saints boss said. “This is why the Premier League is so special because you don’t have easy games, you don’t have a massive difference between teams”.

“I don’t think Graziano will be back for Monday but we know the qualities of Shane and he was one of the key players against Arsenal”.
