Francis Coquelin praised Arsenal’s tactical approach after helping the Gunners record a famous 2-0 win over Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Hamann said on the Colin Murray show: “Yesterday’s game will give them huge belief”.

“You play against the best in the Champions League and Bayern are a top-class team – but we showed our class”, the England forward said.

Wenger admits he still is not sure of his side’s immediate future in the competition with a tricky trip to Munich in a fortnight’s time and believes Arsenal still need to leave Germany with a positive result. In the other group game, Olympiakos Piraeus boosted their hopes of reaching the knockout stages after an Ideye Brown goal helped them to a 1-0 win at Dinamo Zagreb.

“As much as it went up and down and there were chances and shots and it was very entertaining, it looked like one goal might decide it”.

“For the most part we controlled the match well”, Lahm said after the match.

Walcott feels inflicting a first defeat of the campaign on Pep Guardiola’s side will serve as a warning of Arsenal’s intentions.

For once, goal-machine Robert Lewandowski could not find the net with Arsenal keeper Petr Cech and his inspired defenders thwarting the lethal Pole.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger told the club’s official website after the game he knew the injury would at least keep him out this weekend against Everton. For Bayern, probably just a blip. “We play two matches at home and one in Israel, so the qualification depends clearly on us”.

Özil has now scored in his last two big games. I don’t know if there has ever been a game where both teams came back from losing by two goals but if there has, there hasn’t been that many.

“He’s a team man, he wants people to do well and he has a lot of belief in this team”.

The Wales global also missed three weeks after injuring his hamstring on September 27 against Tottenham and then spent over six weeks out over the busy Christmas period after re-injuring the muscle in the Champions League win at Galatasaray on December 9.
